INCREASING THE ROLE OF PARENTS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENT LITERATION

One of the core skills is digital literacy. This skill can develop maximally when interest in reading and writing good. The ability to read and write students SDN Karangmlati 2 Demak is still low. Solution to overcome the problem is by involving parents in the development of literacy. The involvement of parents in the development of literacy among students through activities: reading a story book before bed, mentoring in reading and writing, writing control cards, school library volunteers, and volunteers to read stories at school. School responsibilities include making affirmative literacy stickers, literacy affirmation boards in schools, books, mini bookshelves, reading lodges, and control cards. Differences in educational background as well as the economics of parents, making this program needs adjustment. Some parents who have not been able to read, not fluent reading and low reading hobby. Most of the economic circumstances of the students' parents are lower middle class, so buying books is not a priority. Increasing the role of parents is done by stages: understanding of literacy programs and parental responsibilities, simulating the activities of old roles, monitoring and rewarding.  School Literacy Team visits and mentoring for students who have not shown any progress. Parental involvement is an effective way to develop student literacy. Parents as an example for their children at home.
